Introduction
Welcome to Conquest! This is a strategy game similar to RISK,
and other 'Conquer the World' type games. It has many options to
make the game more interesting, but you may want to wait until after
you have played a few games before you try them. One of my design
objectives was to create a simple user interface which removes
unnecessary keystrokes, and leaves as much room on the screen as
possible for the game map. As a result, EGA and a mouse or trackball
are required to play Conquest. For information on how to play the
game, either run the game and use the built in help screens, or read
the file 'Guide.doc.' Write me a note if I can be of help.
Features of Conquest Version 2.0:
1. This version of Conquest has a new option, 'max new armies per
turn', that limits the number of new armies a player can receive
during a turn. This can greatly increase the length of game play on
large maps (over 1,000 turns - yes, the save game option works).
2. Another new option is 'random player order'. If this option is
enabled, the order of players for each round is different. Players
still get only one turn per roundm, however they do not know when
they will get it.
3. A new player 'favors attacking' selection has been added: vengeance.
If this selection is chosen for a computer player, then that player
will tend to attack the players who attack him the most.
4. A map designing contest has been started (with $250.00 in prizes).
For more information, see the file 'Contest.doc'.
5. The screen can be turned off during game play by pressing the 'F8'
function key.
THANKS for all of the good suggestions! If any of you have more
features you want to see in Conquest, please send a note to me -
